π©πͺ Berlin, Germany β’ One Perfect Day πΆββοΈπ§οΈ
I arrived on the first evening and left early on the third day, so I only had one full day to explore β and the gloomy, drizzly morning totally matched my moody image of Berlin! βοΈπ§οΈ Hereβs the route I followed (refer to Map 1οΈβ£): World Clock β° β Berlin TV Tower πΌ β Berlin Cathedral πΈ β Brandenburg Gate ποΈ β Berlin Philharmonic π΅ β Checkpoint Charlie π β East Side Gallery π¨ β Photoautomat (B&W photo booth) πΌ π Best photo spot for the cathedral: Adolph-Diesterweg-Denkmal (Note: Entry to the cathedral interior requires a separate ticket) πΆ I was lucky to catch the free Wednesday lunch concert at the Berlin Philharmonic (1 PM)! I arrived at 12:20 PM and the steps were already packed β ended up standing the whole time, but it was worth it. That day featured clarinet + piano + viola. Beautiful vibes! They also have paid concerts β check out: π¨ Accommodation: Generator Berlin Alexanderplatz 5 mins walk from the World Clock π, super close to the metro. I booked a 6-bed female-only dorm with private bathroom. Quiet at night! With Trip.com discounts, it was only Β£25 for two nights β total steal! ππ· π« Transport: I used the BVG Tickets app β super easy with Apple Pay. Buy an ABC zone ticket if going to/from the airport. (Note: Red ticket machines require validation β app is simpler!) π Food Highlight: Curry61 β famous Berlin currywurst stand near Alexanderplatz. π CURRY61 - Alexanderplatz Sausage + fries = β¬5.80 ππ They ask: ketchup or mayo? Spicy or not? (The βspicyβ powder is mild though π ) Very generous with ketchup β a bit salty but tasty! π§ Note: There was a BVG (public transport) strike that day β almost everything was cancelled. I walked everywhere πΆβοΈ, but distances were manageable! π Sadly missed the Spy Museum and Neues Museum due to time. Next time! #BerlinInADay #GermanyTravel #BerlinGuide #SoloTravel #BudgetTravel
