Location was good, closed to an S-Bahn station (2 min), a U-Bahn station (5 min), a tramway stop (1 min). Reception available 24/7. Mostly clean.
However, do not book an 8-bed dorm bed if you care at all about privacy or cleanliness or calm. This might sound obvious that by booking a shared dorm, you won't be as comfortable as you would be in a private room, however there are some elements that could easily be implemented to make customer experience better. Here's some of the downsides I noted: the windows have a very complicated opening system. It gets very hot in the room but we couldn't figure out how to open the windows. And even when they're closed, they don't close very tightly so you can still hear everything, especially the noise from the open space in the middle of the hostel which is right under the windows, or from the hostel bar which gets very very loud at night when people are throwing parties in it. there's only 1 bathroom for 8 people, separated between a shower room and a sink/toilet room. The shower room has exactly ZERO hanging space and zero table/tray or anything. You have no other choice than putting your clothes, glasses, jewels, shampoo, phone, etc, on the bare floor. No bathroom mats are provided either, so the whole surface of the room gets completely wet as soon as someone takes a shower, so you can't even enter the room with socks on. Of course no one comes to clean the bathroom ever. there are no curtains around each bed to have a minimum of privacy. This is the norm in some countries but not here. So if it's hot at night (and you can't open the windows to refresh the room), be prepared that everyone else will be able to see you in your night attire, so if you're used to sleeping shirtless/ in your underwear you're gonna be seen by everyone. There's also less than 1 meter space between each bunk bed, so you can't be shy. no space to put your personal belongings next to each bed. There's usually at least a tray of a surface where you can put your glasses, phone, wallet, bottle... Not here. Only a 5-cm wide recess for the bottom bunk bed where you can barely put anything, nothing for the top bunk. an awkward storage system under the beds, which barely fits so you have to pull it very strongly which makes a horrible noise (yeah, great when in the middle of the night...). Also don't expect there to be a lock, you have to bring your own. no towels included. 5⬠to rent one. no free luggage storage. You have to use the paying lockers in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNO COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS PLACE AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!! Budget-friendly hostel with bunk beds but VERY CLEAN!!!!!!! And spacious room. Lekker buffet in the morning: typical German breakfast with bread, spread, cheese, müseli (?!) / cereal, tomato, yogurt (different types), flavored yogurt, cucumber, ham, special ham / sausage cooked the German way,.. (ofc processed meat but still with the price then absolutely tasty!!!!!) š
Lovely and clean room. Spacious. Amazing view (from our room). Quite large and SUPER comfy bed. Strategic and so convenient location. Right in the center. Tram and U-bahn (?!) / metro 1-minute walk.
Cutest staff ever!!!!! There was a body-builder-looking staff who helped us open the door to the luggage room. When he saw me struggling with the luggage, he helped out immediately without being asked. Such a great guy!!
The girl at the reception was also helpful and so hospitable. All the staff at the kitchen are so so nice, quick and as far as I see, clean also!! Much appreciated!!!! So much work for them to prep such a huge amount of breakfast for these many groups (of students, backpackers, families,..). But theyāve handled it so well.
Thereās a Vietnamese restaurant opened until late night (as far as I remember somewhere 01:00 or 02:00 in the night/morning,ā¦) with comfort food, hearty meals and really yummy ginger tea!! Highly recommend their ginger tea (with oolong, citroen š and honey šÆ). Again, lovely stay: great facility, amazing staff, great breakfast for the price,..
1000000000000000+/10 no point for complaint considering the affordable prices. But would be best if you stay with a group of friends rather than strangers - could influence...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently stayed here and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I've had. The staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful, making me feel more like an inconvenience than a guest. On top of that, the bedrooms were unbearably hot. There was no air conditioning and not even a small fan provided, making it impossible to get a decent night's sleep.
To make matters worse, there's no kitchen available for guests to use. This is a major issue when you're trying to save money on food or have dietary restrictions (also making it difficult when the staff donāt communicate this during check-in). There was a incident where the first morning I bought yoghurt and headed to the kitchen to be told, āno, absolutely notā, that they will not store our yoghurt (that hadnāt been opened) in the fridge overnight. There is no space to cook, or store anything you buy therefore having to eat out at every meal.
At around 7:30am they play music quite loud in the courtyard area which echos in the surrounding bedrooms across the whole hostel, that all have their windows opened due to the heat. This is extremely difficult and frustrating to sleep especially when you have arrived late due to long travel days.
However, the free walking tour was really good and I would recommend, heaps of information were provided but do be prepared for heaps of walking (our tour took 4 hours). Clean bed sheets were provided which was great however, my bed sheet had a massive cut through the middle making it quiet uncomfortable to lay on. We liked the fact that they did provide washing machines, and that there were pool tables and a ping pong table (you did have to pay to use these...
