🇩🇪 Bremen|New Japanese Tonkatsu Restaurant 🥩
This place has a pretty impressive location — if you sit outside, you can enjoy a view of the harbor river 🏞️. The interior has a dark, modern style with large floor-to-ceiling windows. But when the sun shines directly through, it gets hotter the longer you eat 😅. 【Rosu Katsu】 The signature 200g pork cutlet set costs €28.50. During their soft opening, it was €26.50 — a €2 price hike in just a short time! We decided to try it anyway, thinking it would be a one-time experience… but high expectations led to even greater disappointment. The set includes potato salad, homemade pickles, rice, and miso soup. The tonkatsu sauce comes in a small bowl, and there’s sesame you can grind yourself 🥢✨. Grind it, mix in the sauce — adds a nice nutty aroma. The pork looked good — decent thickness and color. But when picked up with chopsticks, the breading completely separated from the meat. The pork was fully cooked (no pink left), but dry — none of the juiciness was locked in. The potato salad was sweet and tasty 👍, but the pickles weren’t to our liking. The miso soup was way too salty 🥲. The rice was excellent… but the portion was too small. 【Vegetarian Tofu Yasai Katsu】 The vegetable tempura set is €22.50. There’s also a starter version for €10.50 — the staff said there’s not much difference between them, so we went for the set (though later realized the price jump wasn’t really worth it). The tempura looked decent — eggplant, shiitake, tofu, lotus root — but the coating wasn’t light or crispy enough. The sides were the same: again, potato salad and rice were good 👍, but skip the pickles and miso soup. 【Karaage Chicken】 €8.50 for fried chicken that tasted nothing like real Karaage 🍗. Coated in fine breadcrumbs, and the meat didn’t seem like thigh cut. The Japanese mayo dip was sweet and tasty though… but pure calorie bomb 💣. This post is just a food diary — not necessarily a recommendation. But if you’re curious, maybe still give it a try! 🍱 Name: Akashi - Japanese Restaurant & Izakaya 🍱 Address: Ludwig-Franzius-Platz 13, 28217 Bremen #Bremen #DailyGermany #GermanFood #BremenFood #JapaneseFood
