🇩🇪 First Taste of Korean Cuisine in Mannheim at Soban❤️
It seems like every major city in Germany has to have a Korean restaurant called Soban, doesn’t it? 😂 🍖 Must-Try Dishes Galbi Jjim (Braised Short Ribs) – As highly recommended, this dish did not disappoint. The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Seafood Pancake (Haemul Pajeon) – While not strictly traditional (it had an unusually generous amount of egg), it was deliciously soft and fluffy—just how I like it! Honestly, it might have had more egg than any other Korean restaurant in Düsseldorf. 🍗 Crispy Korean Fried Chicken We ordered the sweet soy-glazed version but asked for the sauce on the side. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with enough seasoning to enjoy even without the sauce. Bonus: The side of fries was surprisingly good—and the portion was so huge we had to take leftovers home! 🍦 Ice Cream Detour Given Germany’s rare heatwave, we couldn’t resist trying their €2-per-scoop ice cream. While decent, it didn’t blow us away—mostly because they were out of pistachio (my favorite!). We settled for passionfruit yogurt and salted caramel, which were tasty but not mind-blowing. Final Verdict? ✅ Great for: Korean comfort food, generous portions, crispy fried chicken ❌ Missing: A truly standout dessert option (bring back pistachio ice cream!) #KoreanFood #MannheimEats #GermanFoodie #TravelDiaries 😎
