🇩🇪 Frankfurt | Europe’s Financial Capital

Frankfurt am Main, located in the German state of Hesse, is Germany’s 5th largest city. Nestled along the Main River, it stands as Germany’s—even Europe’s—most crucial hub for finance, transportation, and culture. It’s definitely Germany’s city with the most skyscrapers and the highest level of modernization, while also being a renowned trade fair city and transportation junction 🏙️. The city isn’t large, and its attractions are highly concentrated—making it perfect for a day trip! Below are the spots I visited 😉 ❶ Römerberg (Roman Square) Situated in the heart of Frankfurt’s Old Town, it’s dominated by colorful half-timbered houses that feel straight out of a fairy tale 🧚‍♀️. The famous annual Christmas market is held here too! Surrounding the square are the Fountain of Justice and the Old Town Hall, keeping the area lively and bustling. 📍 Römerberg 26, 60311 Frankfurt am Main ❷ Eurotower This is the home of the European Central Bank (ECB) and a hub for skyscrapers. Countless high-rises showcase Frankfurt’s financial power 💼. 📍 Kaiserstraße 29, 60311 Frankfurt am Main ❸ Eiserner Steg (Iron Bridge) One of Frankfurt’s most famous landmarks, it’s known for its "love locks"—earning it the nickname "Love Bridge" 🔒. Couples hang locks here as a symbol of eternal love, and there are many similar bridges across Germany. Spanning the Main River, it connects Frankfurt’s Old Town to the Sachsenhausen district. 📍 Eiserner Steg, 60311 Frankfurt am Main ❹ Alte Oper (Old Opera House) Another iconic landmark of Frankfurt, the Old Opera House was built in 1880. Destroyed during World War II, it was later reconstructed and reopened 🎭. It hosts operas, concerts, conferences, and celebrations. The fountain in the square in front of the building is spectacular—many tourists gather here to take photos 📸. 📍 Opernpl. 1, 60313 Frankfurt am Main Beyond these, Frankfurt has plenty of museums—if you have extra time, they’re worth a visit. Its bustling shopping streets and malls are also great for killing time 🛍️. I have a really good impression of Frankfurt: there are so many Chinese restaurants and Chinese people here! Living here must be such a fun experience 🥢 #Frankfurt #Germany #MyStudyAbroadStory #CityWanderer #StudyAbroadTravel #FrankfurtTravel #CityLandmarks #PublicArtAsCulturalSymbols #StudyAbroadDaily
