Frankfurt | Dining at Mon Amie Maxi for Oysters 🦪🍽️
🌟 4.4 from Google 💶 Around 60+ euros per person can get you full and satisfied, with no upper limit. 🧏 The dishes may not be the most dazzling, but the service and atmosphere are excellent, making it perfect for a fine dining date or for a few friends to enjoy oysters and small dishes with a little drink. This French restaurant is part of the Mook Group, which has several fine dining restaurants in Frankfurt, such as the exquisite German cuisine at Franziska and the steakhouse M-steak. I must admit, I've been here twice, and neither time did I manage to get to the main course. Each time, I was already full after the appetizers and then ordered a dessert for a graceful finish. The first time I came, I was still unsure of what to do, hesitating over whether to choose confit duck legs or steak. At that time, a kind person (our waiter) suggested we try their signature appetizer platter first, a mix of cold and hot dishes, to give ourselves some time to decide. The platter is priced per person at 40 euros, and it comes out as a sprawling two-story affair. To live well, seafood and barbecue are a must. 🦪 There are both freshly shucked oysters and those slightly baked with cheese. Sometimes it's small whelks, sometimes it's red prawns, cocktail shrimp, and caviar with egg yolk are basically regular guests. This time, it also came with foie gras on bread and a lobster consommé (served in a small cup that looks like an espresso). Anyway, there are about ten different things, with various sauces, plus free refills of bread. You can't finish it, really can't. 🍐 Among the appetizers that are only available a la carte, there is a "Blue Cheese Baked Williams Pear," which is quite delightful. If you like this kind of thing, it's recommended! Ordering fries is mainly to avoid wasting the various flavored dips that come with the appetizers. The dessert section is more classic, with Napoleon mille-feuille, large puff pastries, and crème brûlée. I've basically tried them all, and they are decent but without any surprises. Tip: If you are a group of three to five people, it is recommended to order a two-person appetizer platter to share, and then you will have the opportunity to try the main course. #Frankfurt #RestaurantReview #FrenchCuisine #Oysters #WeekendGetaway
