🇩🇪 Kassel|Hercules & Little Red Riding Hood 🏰👒

Kassel is best known for its UNESCO World Heritage Site—Wilhelmshöhe Park. But if you dig a little deeper into the city’s history, you’ll find it’s also the birthplace of German fairy tales. —————————————— 1️⃣ Wilhelmshöhe Park (Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe) This is the largest hillside park in Europe, taking nearly 150 years to complete. Its deep historical charm is literally "leg-tiringly beautiful" 😅💚. Think of it as a mountain: the slopes are adorned with landscaped gardens, while Wilhelmshöhe Palace crowns the summit. At the very top, the Hercules statue gazes down over the land. A water channel runs down from the middle of the hill, and on specific days, the waterfalls and fountains are activated—a spectacular sight! 💦 The whole park is incredibly scenic, making it perfect for hiking. 🚌 Take Tram 1 from Wilhelmshöhe station to Wilhelmshöhe (Park) at the foot of the mountain. ⌛ Allow about 2 hours to climb to the top. ⛲ From May 1 to October 3, water shows run every Wednesday, Sunday, and on public holidays starting at 2:30 PM. 2️⃣ Grimm World (Grimmwelt) Ever wondered which fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood 🧑🦰 and Snow White 👸 belong to? Though the Brothers Grimm were born in Hanau, they did most of their work in Kassel—collecting and rewriting fairy tales, and even compiling the first German dictionary (A-F entries). This museum not only tells their life stories but also explores words and meanings through letter-themed zones. Highly recommended for language lovers! 💬 For example, the German word “arm” can mean “poor” (adjective) or “arm” (noun). The poetic explanation? “Because poor people need help, we take them into our arms.” 🥹 📍 Weinbergstraße 21, 34117 Kassel 💰 Adult €10 / Student €7 3️⃣ Karlsaue Park Kassel’s city center may not be thrilling, but Karlsaue Park nearby is lovely 🌳🌷. You’ll find lush trees, bright flowers, and plenty of Germans sunbathing on the lawns 😄. Deep in the park lies a serene lake with a small swan island, where elegant swans glide across the water. 📍 Auedamm 18, 34121 Kassel —————————————— 📅 May 2023 📷 iPhone & Fujifilm X-T2 | XF10-24/XF50-140 #SummerInGermany #GermanyTravelGuide #ExploreGermany #Hessen #Kassel #KasselTravel
