🇩🇪 Leipzig Travel Guide, Germany
Itinerary 🗺️ Old Town Hall → St. Thomas Church → Bach Museum → New Town Hall → Leipzig University → St. Nicholas Church → Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) Leipzig, once the largest city in East Germany, has relatively concentrated attractions. If you skip the zoo, 3 hours is enough to explore the city center 🏙️. However, if you’re interested, the Leipzig Zoo is highly recommended and can easily be included in a one-day trip 🐾. Transportation 🚆 We took the train from Berlin to Leipzig. At the station, find a ticket machine (like the one pictured below), enter your departure and destination, and purchase your ticket. The journey takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, costing around €60. German trains are truly exceptional — probably the only ones in Europe that rival China’s high-speed rail in comfort 🚄. They are also extremely punctual, often arriving exactly on time as predicted. Alternatively, you can take a FlixBus 🚌, which is about one-third the price of the train ticket. Attractions 🌟 🏛 Leipzig Old Town Hall (Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig, Altes Rathaus) A quick photo stop! 📸 ⛪ St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirchhof 18) A must-visit landmark — you can buy a ticket to enter. 🎵 Bach Museum (Bach-Museum Leipzig) Highly recommended! Adult: €10 | Student/Child: €8 Free Chinese audio guide available 🎧 Bach lived in Leipzig for 27 years — you can see the organ he played and his original manuscripts (no photography allowed). 🏰 New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus, Martin-Luther-Ring 4) Another great photo spot — impressive architecture! 🎓 Leipzig University (Universität Leipzig, Augustusplatz 10) Founded in 1409, it’s one of the oldest universities in Europe. Worth a quick visit! ⛪ St. Nicholas Church (Nikolaikirche, Nikolaikirchhof 3) A beautiful church — perfect for photos. 🚉 Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) Built in 1915, it’s one of the largest train stations in Europe.
