π©πͺ Marienburg Castle πΈο½A Fairytale Palace π°
After living in Hannover for so long, I finally visited Schloss Marienburg β known as the "Neuschwanstein of the North"! Just an hour by bus from the city π, itβs the perfect weekend spot for a photoshoot with your besties. ββββββ This enchanting castle was a 40th birthday gift from George V, the last king of the Kingdom of Hanover, to his queen, Marie π. Built between 1858 and 1869, the royal couple only lived here for a short time, yet Queen Marie cherished the memory of Marienburg throughout her later years in Austria β¨. ββββββ Tucked away in the wooded hills on the outskirts of Hannover, the castle stands proudly on a hilltop, surrounded by lush forest π³. Only one winding path leads up to it. When the fairytale-like palace π° suddenly comes into view, youβll feel like youβve stepped right into a Disney story! Itβs dreamy, romantic, and looks like itβs straight out of every little girlβs fantasy π«. ββββββ π Visit: Built in a neo-Gothic style, the castle features a grand courtyard and a semicircular fortified wall. Unfortunately, the interior is currently closed for renovation π§, but you can still explore the outer courtyard and admire the stunning exterior β for FREE! π From November, opening hours are limited to weekends only, from 11 AM to 5 PM. For other months, itβs best to check the official website before you go π. π Transportation: By car π, bike π΄, or bus π (take Line 300 from central Hannover). π Photography πΈ: The exterior is incredibly photogenic! Bring a reliable photo buddy β otherwise, you might end up like me, balancing your phone on a pipe and running around trying to set up the perfect shot π #Germany #Hannover #WeekendInHannover #HanovarianKingdom #DayTripsFromHannover
