🇩🇪 Munich Eibsee One-Day Trip: Free Transportation Guide 🚌
I’ve seen so many recommendations for Eibsee—it’s like the "German version of Jiuzhaigou"! Finally picked a sunny day to visit, and it didn’t disappoint 🌞! ‼️ This guide is for those who don’t plan to climb Zugspitze. No extra cost except for meals—100% budget-friendly! All transportation is covered by the German monthly pass (Deutschlandticket). Our timeline is for your reference ⬇️ 🚗 Transportation & Timeline 1️⃣ Take the RB6 train from München Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central Station) at 9:32 AM, arriving at Garmisch-Partenkirchen at 10:55 AM. Then transfer to a bus. 2️⃣ After exiting Garmisch-Partenkirchen station: Follow the bus signs, turn left onto the main street, and walk ~100 meters to the bus stop across the road. Take bus 9840/EVG directly to the final stop: Eibsee (≈45-minute ride). We exited the station at 11 AM and took the 11:14 AM bus. 3️⃣ Arrive at Eibsee around 12 PM. Walk a short distance to find the lakeside restaurant Eibsee Pavilion—its biggest perk is the outdoor lake-view terrace, perfect for eating, drinking coffee, and enjoying the scenery 🍽️. We ordered fried chicken and schnitzel (€17 each)—a bit pricey, but the view makes it worth it! Remember to keep the receipt from the waiter—it’s your pass to use their restroom (otherwise, it costs €1 per use 🚻). Pics 4-5 show the fried chicken and schnitzel we ordered! 4️⃣ Start the lakeside hike at 1:20 PM. Stop for photos along the way, and finished the full loop at 3:50 PM 🚶♀️. 5️⃣ Take the 4:10 PM bus back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen Bahnhof (train station). Then catch the RB6 train back to Munich Central Station—options are 5:05 PM or 6:05 PM (ride time is similar to the outbound trip). ❗ Important Tips The return bus gets super stuck! Lots of self-driving cars head back at this time, so our bus ride time doubled. We ended up taking the 6:05 PM RB6 back—always check your train schedule in advance! Eibsee is stunning in winter! We took over 100 photos in one day 😍. The ice on the lake melts more at noon, so you can see two totally different lake views recently—half ice, half water! #Eibsee #Zugspitze #Munich #StudyInGermany #Germany #OneDayTrip #TravelGuide #Deutschlandticket #MunichDaily #MunichFood #MunichTravel #LakeView #GermanyTravel
