🇪🇸 Philadelphia|Honest Review of Oloroso
Went with high hopes after hearing it called the "best Spanish restaurant in Philly" — but honestly, if that’s the ceiling, the ceiling is pretty low. Though the photos did turn out nice? 😅 Overall: Salty. Repetitive flavors. Extremely slow service. 🥩 Cheesesteak Croquettes Haven’t tried Philly cheesesteak much — this was my first. Better than expected (beef filling) but on the salty side. 🫑 Padrón Peppers Spanish version of blistered shishito peppers — reminds me of Sichuan roasted peppers or late-night BBQ skewers… but not as good. Salty. 🍆 Grilled Eggplant Again, like Sichuan-style grilled eggplant, but bland in comparison. Also salty. Left most of it untouched — tasted too similar to the peppers. 🥘 Paella Mariscos (Seafood Paella) The most anticipated dish. Pretty good overall, but the small portion was tiny — just a thin layer of rice with crispy socarrat at the bottom (different from most paellas). By the end, all I could think was… why does this also taste like BBQ seasoning? 🥩 Grilled Hanger Steak Since the earlier dishes fell flat, we added this steak — and I actually liked it! But it’s about medium-rare, so avoid if you don’t enjoy pink meat. My friend only ate one piece; I finished the rest. 💰 Price: ~$160 for two → $80 per person. #PhillyEats #SpanishFood #OlorosoPhilly #FoodReview #PhillyFoodie #PennLife
