đȘđž Soria Day Trip | A Poetic Spanish Town âšđ
After reading BĂ©cquerâs Rimas and the famous legend Monte de Ănimas, plus a bookstore ownerâs tip about Soriaâs poetry statues, I rushed to the train station that night for a spontaneous tripâzero regrets! đž A Walk Through Poetry Strolled along the Duero River, pausing at bronze verses embedded in streets and squares. Each statue whispered lines from Spanish poets, turning the town into an open-air anthology. Visited the grave of Leonor, wife of 98 Generation poet Antonio Machado, in a stunning cemetery. The withered elm tree from his masterpiece "A Un Olmo Seco" still stands by Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Espino. đČ Missed But Not Forgotten Monte de Ănimas (BĂ©cquerâs haunted hill) â Skipped due to sore feet, but locals swear by its mystical views. Monasterio de San Juan de Duero â Closed on Sundays (my timing fail đ ). đ Why Poets Loved Soria âïž Riverbanks that inspire sonnets âïž Silent streets where verses linger âïž A melancholic beauty Machado called "so old, so gray, so holy" #SpainTravel #LiteraryWanderlust #HiddenSpain #CastillaYLeon
