🇫🇷 Amiens Day Trip: 20,000 Steps of Pure Bliss!

My friend and I took the 8:30 AM TER from Paris Nord and arrived in Amiens by 9:30 AM. The air here is fresher than Paris, and the sea of greenery instantly cleansed my soul—ahhh, nature! 🌿💆‍♀️ Since Amiens is compact, no buses needed—just pure citywalk vibes! Most attractions are 10 mins apart, and the weather makes walking a breeze. Itinerary Breakdown: 1️⃣ RDVBD2024 (Volleyball Art Exhibition) 🏐🎨 Our main reason for visiting! Held in June, this exhibition featured stunning original volleyball artwork (see my last post for pics 📸). Opens at 10 AM—we arrived early and wandered until it opened. Spent 1.5 hrs inside. Skip if there’s no exhibition during your visit! 2️⃣ L'Homme sur sa bouée (Man on the Buoy) 🚣♂️💜 A quirky standing man sculpture on the Somme River—Amiens students love dressing him up! This time, he was rocking a purple scarf (hope he’s not too hot 😂). Nearby is Fufu Ramen (hyped on Xiaohongshu but… meh). €15 for average ramen? Not worth it—go for local bistros instead! 3️⃣ Cathédrale d'Amiens ⛪✨ Massive & breathtaking—just a 10-min walk from the station. Stunning stained glass, but the organ was under scaffolding (RIP aesthetics 🚧). Souvenirs: €2 commemorative bills & €3 coins! 4️⃣ Musée de Picardie 🏛️🆓 FREE for EU residents under 26 (bring ID!). Basement: Prehistoric tools (Paleolithic → Iron Age) + Egyptian/Greek/Roman artifacts. Ground floor: Medieval sculptures & enamelware. First floor: Paintings + a giant mammoth skeleton (😱!). Souvenirs: Got a €2 commemorative coin! 5️⃣ Maison de Jules Verne 📚🏠 €9 full / €5 student—home of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’s author! Cozy 3-floor house + attic filled with manuscripts & curiosities.
