🇫🇷 Lyon | Ultra-Detailed One-Day Itinerary (with Map Guide)
This trip to Lyon was a bit of a "special forces" mission—I only set aside one day for this "stomach of France" city. This guide outlines the most worthwhile attractions in Lyon, which you can hop between mostly on foot or by public transport! 🚶♂️💨 Route Lyon City Hall → Place des Terreaux → Lyon Museum of Fine Arts (optional) → Musée Cinéma et Miniature (optional) → Vieux Lyon (Old Town) → Lyon Cathedral → Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière → Fourvière Hill → Ancient Roman Theatre of Lyon → Place Bellecour → Saône River Cruise 🚢 Transportation From Lyon Airport to the city center, the most budget-friendly route is around €2! Take bus 47 to Meyzieu Z.I. station, then transfer to tram line T3 to the city center. Alternatively, take the airport express: around €16 (€10.5 for under 25s), taking about 30 minutes to reach the central train station! ⚡ For a one-day trip in Lyon, we recommend buying a Lyon City Card. It includes free city transportation (even the cable car up the hill!) and can be purchased online for 24/48 hours. Just pick up the physical card offline! 🎫 Attractions Introduction Overall itinerary: Start from Lyon City Hall, right next to Place des Terreaux. Then walk to Vieux Lyon—enjoy a Citywalk to soak in its historical charm. Next, head to Lyon Cathedral; the F2 funicular stop is nearby. Take the F2 mountain train to the three attractions on Fourvière Hill—it’s one of the best spots to overlook Lyon! Finally, visit Place Bellecour to admire the beautiful central fountain. 🌊 Food No mention of "France’s stomach" is complete without Lyon’s cuisine! Based on personal experience and online reviews, here are two recommendations: Copain comme canard Google rating: 4.8 (985 reviews)! Grab a meal here before heading up the hill—it opens around 12 PM, so note the time, friends! ⏰ Address: 6 Rue des Marronniers, 69002 Lyon Le Laurencin This old restaurant is in Lyon’s Old Town, loved by locals, and portions are generous! A €20 or so set menu will leave you full and satisfied. 😋 Address: 24 Rue Saint-Jean, 69005 Lyon #Lyon #FranceTravel #LyonTourism #AbroadTravel #FrenchTrip #StudentTravel #Travel #OverseasTravel #LyonFrance #LyonFood
