Café Comptoir Abel Summary first: Good wine needs no bush. A worthy alternative to Paul Bocuse. Today is our friend Laoliang's birthday, hahahahaha. I originally wanted to order a cake, but the delicious ones didn't take the order. Later, I thought, "Why bother?" Instead, I decided to take him out for a nice meal, which I haven't done in a while. I had previously tried their Bristot Abel and was impressed, so this time I booked the one near Victor Hugo in the 2nd district because it looked delicious (my logic: old-fashioned decor = historic). 🍽️ For appetizers, we ordered: - Salade Gourmande and Saucissons chauds The salad was way too salty, but it was so good. I must have been a foie gras enthusiast in my past life because I'm crazy about it in this one. The salad dressing was a bit like mayonnaise with mustard, and the foie gras was delicious, but it would have been even better with some crispy bread. Next time, I'll just order the foie gras. The hot sausages were also tasty—four slices of sausage on top of green peas. This dish was very filling, so I recommend sharing it. 🍗 For the main course, I chose their specialty: Creamy Morel Mushroom and Chicken 2⭐️ A worthy alternative to Paul Bocuse! When I went to Paul Bocuse, I also ordered the creamy morel mushroom and chicken. Of course, the chicken at PB was better, and they used the thigh, while Abel gave us a quarter of the chicken, which was a bit dry. But overall, it was still quite similar, especially considering the value for money! 🍖 Laoliang chose the blood sausage. He's from Guangxi and said it was very similar to the blood sausage there. It was delicious, but the dish was mostly sausage and potatoes—starch overload. But since the price was reasonable, it was okay. 🍖 We skipped dessert because the portions for the appetizers and main courses were just too big. Hahaha. Waiter: Would you like dessert? Me: No, no. Waiter: Oui, je comprends. They also offer a set menu with three courses. For the appetizer, you can choose between Salade Lyonnaise or Terrine du Chef . The main course options are Tripes à la Mode de Caen (calf's stomach with sausage) and Chicken in Cream Sauce (a simpler version without morels). You can choose any dessert from the menu. I think it's a pretty good deal for exploring the flavors. 🥩 Next week is still school, and the week after that, I'll be starting my internship at the company. Although work will be busy, I'm looking forward to the free time after work. I can't wait for the happy days of being back at the office! #Lyon #LyonLife #LyonCuisine #LyonTravel #LyonAbroad #LyonTips #LyonFoodie #Lyon
