Yesterday I spontaneously hopped on a train from Sheffield to Leicester for a day trip! 🚄 Overall, this city is pretty compact – one day is more than enough to explore! 🚶‍♀️ If you’re thinking about visiting Leicester but don’t want to overplan – just follow this guide! 🪐 National Space Centre Hands down the BEST attraction in Leicester! Trust me on this! Take bus number 54 from the city centre – super convenient 🚌. The centre has multiple interactive galleries – you can easily spend hours here. But the real highlight is the Planetarium Show 🌌 It’s a giant dome cinema where you sink into your seat and watch galaxies swirl, explode, and form right above you… The visuals are absolutely mind-blowing! I felt like I was floating in space – goosebumps all over! Make sure you check showtimes in advance on their website! ⭐🎥 🏘 City Centre Stroll Honestly, Leicester’s city centre gave me major Sheffield vibes – classic UK town with red-brick buildings, pedestrian shopping streets, and a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing wildly surprising, but perfect for a casual walk and coffee ☕️. Very chill! 👑 The Richard III Experience You can’t come to Leicester without hearing about King Richard III! 👑 The last king of the House of York had a wild story – killed in battle, his remains went missing for over 500 years… Then in 2012, they were discovered… under a car park! 🤯 Now he rests in Leicester Cathedral, right in the city centre. There’s also a visitor centre next door dedicated to his life and legacy. All in all, Leicester is a lovely city for a day trip – slow-paced and easy to explore.
