πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Hastings Day Trip: A Disappointing Coastal Visit πŸŒŠπŸ˜•

For the Easter break, my friend and I originally planned to visit Bristol, but due to expensive tickets and potential motion sickness on the bus (plus protests there ), we switched to Hastings instead. After some research, it seemed like a charming seaside townβ€”but unfortunately, it turned out to be a bit of a letdown. Maybe it was the off-season or lingering pandemic effects, but the place felt deserted and underwhelming. πŸš‚ Travel & Tickets Round-trip train: Β£11.45 from London Victoria (2h direct). Returned early: Bought a one-way ticket back (which cost more than the round-trip! ) because we were done in just 2.5 hours. πŸ“ Itinerary (What We Did) 1️⃣ Old Town (TN34 3EA) Cute shops, but most were closed due to COVID. Typical UK vintage trinkets and cafΓ©sβ€”nothing special. 2️⃣ East Hill Cliff Railway 🚠 Closed for maintenance when we arrived, so we took the steep stairs instead (~10 min climb). Luckily, it reopened later! Student round-trip: Β£2.50 (Adult Β£4.80). Ride time: 30 seconds (yes, really!). 3️⃣ Fish & Chips at Blue Dolphin 🐟🍟 Haddock + chips: Fresh but nothing extraordinary (and I’ve had better near my place). Price was fair: Β£4.20-Β£5.80 depending on fish type. ❌ Why It Fell Short Too quiet: Barely any open shops or people (blaming COVID + off-season). Chilly winds: Made the seaside stroll less enjoyable. Compared to Brighton: Having lived there for a year, Hastings felt lackluster. πŸ“Έ At least the cliff views were decent... #Hastings #LondonDayTrips #MehExperience #UKTravel #SeasideBlues
