The direct train from Leicester to Eastbourne is way too expensive β often over Β£100 for morning departures π±. After some research, I found that going via London is both faster and cheaper! π« Transportation Plan: 7:15-9:30: Coach π Leicester β London Victoria Coach Station | π° Β£8.29 9:54-11:17: Train π London Victoria β Eastbourne | π° Β£8.50 16:33-18:06: Train π Eastbourne β London Victoria | π° Β£12.67 18:30-21:05: Coach π London Victoria Coach Station β Leicester | π° Β£11.20 In short: π Coach between Leicester β London π Train between London β Eastbourne Pick Victoria Station for both β the coach and train stations are super close πββοΈ: just 5 mins jog or 7-8 mins walk. Easy transfer! ποΈ At the Cliffs: From Eastbourne Station, take bus 12X/12A to East Dean (β15min). From there, walk 30 mins along a trail to Birling Gap πΆ (or take an Uber for around Β£10+). Then the fun begins! πΈ Walk along the coast past the Seven Sisters, continue past the lighthouse πΌ all the way to Beachy Head. The whole route takes about 2 hours with photos and exploring. Allow 1 hour to walk back β just make sure you catch the bus back to the station by 4 PM. 3 hours is enough to enjoy the cliffs. The view is stunning π β it really feels like the end of the world! But the wind is no joke π¨ β pack light, dress warm, and go on a sunny day! β οΈ Heads-up: Donβt trust UK public transport to be on time πβ¦ None of my four rides were punctual. Delays made me miss connections, but I just took the next available service. Since it was the same company, staff let me on after a quick explanation β β just show your ticket confidently. Recommend allowing at least 1 hour for transfers. My schedule was tight β a more relaxed plan would be less stressful! π½οΈ Food: Breakfast: Quick sandwich π₯ͺ Lunch: Popular Thai restaurant near Eastbourne Station β stir-fried noodles for Β£8. Tasty and convenient β the bus stop is right outside! Dinner: Grab a bite at the station or eat properly back in Leicester. β Final thoughts: The trip wasnβt too tiring and was well-paced. Most importantly β easy on the wallet! If money isnβt an issue, you could book a private car π β less walking, more convenience. But each option offers a different experience.
