🇬🇧 Most Worth-It Spending in London Travel

Just spent 9 days traveling around the UK with friends, and I have to say—summer in Britain is amazing! Though prices are undeniably high (almost double Canada’s cost of living 😅), there were a few things we all agreed were totally worth the money. Here’s the London edition (Windermere Lakes coming next!): 1️⃣ Accommodation We booked an Airbnb near Farringdon Station for 5 nights—a cozy apartment-style stay with a kitchen, washing machine, and more for ¥1,500/night. Great location and facilities! You can find several similar options on Booking—just compare prices in real-time. Pro tip: In high-cost countries like the UK, balancing eating out with homemade meals is a game-changer. Eating out: £20-40 per person for casual Western food. Grocery shopping: £13 for 4 steaks, £5 for 2 lamb chops, and ice cream/drinks at supermarket prices (way cheaper than restaurants!). If you want something quick, delicious, and easy to clean up, try pan-frying/grilling steaks or lamb chops with veggies. On our last two days in London, we cooked steak and even made chicken soup! Simple but satisfying. 🍳 2️⃣ Memorable Meals Out Two spots stood out: ① Blacklock Shoreditch No need to overexplain the menu—just know they offer 30% off steaks on Mondays! Even as someone who usually prefers well-done steak, I have to admit their medium-rare was incredible. After discount + tip: ~£40 per person. Note: Tipping isn’t mandatory in the UK—you can ask to remove it if you want. ② French Bistro Le Sacre Coeur Slightly out of the way (a short bus ride), but worth it! Great portions and quality. With tip, it was only £22 per person—how do they even stay in business?! Other tries: Fish & chips, Italian, Spanish—decent but not as standout. And avoid lobster restaurants! 🚫 Overpriced and underwhelming. (I had to comfort myself with a proper lobster meal back in Toronto 🦞) 3️⃣ Top Attractions Beyond classic spots like the British Museum: ① Brooklands Museum A must for aviation lovers! Get up close to retired planes like the Concorde. Retired volunteers (some with no teeth left!) passionately shared stories—so inspiring! ✈️ ② The Phantom of the Opera An absolute must-see! We snagged 2nd row seats for £115 each—great value and an unforgettable view. 🎭 #UKTravel #LondonTrip #LondonAccommodation #CookingInUK #LondonRestaurants #PhantomOfTheOpera #Concorde 🇬🇧✨
