🇭🇷 Croatia Food Guide: Split's Must-Try Eats
🐟 Konoba Varos We stumbled upon this spot after our first choice was full, and what a happy accident! While their fish soup with rice was underwhelming (too bland), the Fish Plata for 2 (€) was a showstopper—easily enough for four! 💗The platter featured monkfish and two other local catches, all cooked to perfection with crispy skin and moist flesh. 🍲 Konoba Otprilike Ovako A friend’s tip led us to this homey, always-packed tavern. Their signature is a market-fresh fish stew (€69/kg; ours cost €81.42)—a collagen-rich broth with monkfish, shrimp, squid, and potatoes.💐 💧 We mopped up every drop with their crusty bread, though we wished for more broth (and less salt). Book ahead—their 10 tables fill fast! 🌭 Kantun Paulina (Budget Gem!) For €5.50, their cevapi in lepinja (minced-meat "burger" with raw onions, cheese, and spicy sauce) is a steal. The bread—unlike typical dry flatbreads—was miraculously soft. Cash-only, and say "everything" for the full experience!💐 🍦 Gelato Wars ⭕ Emiliana: The famous mango-peach combo (cash-only) lives up to hype.🌀 Ela’s: Lesser-known but their dense, fudgy dark chocolate deserves fans. #CroatianFood #SplitEats #AdriaticFlavors
