I've been coming here for years, but I'm sorry to say they've lost their charm. Maybe it is because Mark Wiens visited them and told the whole world about them.
This was the definition of a 'local spot', cheap, quick, full of flavour.
Unfortunately I can't say that is the cash anymore. €10 for a large, €7 for a medium. Cash only. It's very over priced for what it is, basically double the price in the last 18 months.
But about the food, had to wait a little because there were orders before me. Two ladies behind the counter running the show. Friendly but busy between cooking and running the front.
Cevapi is tasty and authentic but maybe because I remember how it was over the years it leaves a feeling of something missing. This shop has caused an explosion of cevapi shops. There are better places now that are more affordable and tasty. They may be the original but they need to find their way again - which I don't see happening, the foot fall and movement of tourist will keep this place open for the...
Read moreGet off the beaten track and enjoy this hyper local authentic food. Being a foreigner who has been in Croatia for several months: this is an excellent and accessible introduction to cevapcici. It's not the best I've ever had but it's way better than average. And they are very friendly and the price is "correct" for this area. You must order it with everything. The ayvar is eggplant (aubergine) and sweet pepper preserve that is incredible and fresh. The kaymak is like a cheesy sour cream or clotted cream. Here, the kaymak is just okay but it can be exceptional at other places, so don't stop trying if you like it. But you still have to try it and search out the best ones. Enjoy your cevapcici, and let this introduction be your key to being adventurous and trying this amazing dish at completely local places too. (Picture is from another place that I'll keep secret because you have to make it your mission to find the best cevapcici if you...
Read moreWe were here in the summer and it was fantastic!! We were there because we saw this place on FEED PHIL and we saw Ante there, and I knew his name from the show and he was super friendly and quite the personality!! He gave me the Cevap burger and told me "best burger in the world" ok it wasn't THE best but VERY good!! We were so happy and went on our way. We came back last month (October) and WOW what a difference!! There were two old ladies and no Ante and I was given such trouble because after using the bathroom I left the door open maybe a cm or two and she gave me the angrist look and told ne to CLOSE THE DOOR!! They were super unfriendly during the ordering process and was given the same burger from the previous time and it was NOTHING like before. It was very disappointing like day and night!! If this place was like this always I certainly would not go back, did not feel...
