🇭🇺 Budapest, Hungary: All About the Széchenyi Thermal Bath

Budapest is rich in geothermal resources, boasting over 100 thermal baths of various sizes. Among them, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, with its century-old history and surrounded by beautiful Baroque architecture, has become a must-visit spot for photos. 1️⃣ Getting There: Take the M1 subway line to Széchenyi fürdő station. Upon exiting, you'll find yourself in Budapest City Park, where you'll see a yellow building complex that is the bath. 2️⃣ Tickets: The ticket office is right at the entrance of the bath. From Monday to Thursday, the basic ticket costs 10,500 Ft (early bird ticket 8,400 Ft before 7-9 AM). Prices are slightly higher on weekends and holidays. The ticket is valid for unlimited time. 3️⃣ Entry: After purchasing your ticket, you'll receive a blue wristband. Scan it at the entrance turnstile to gain access (staff will usually guide you). 4️⃣ Changing: The basic ticket includes access to public lockers. Before entering the bath, change in the public changing rooms, which are similar to mall fitting rooms with lockable compartments. These spaces are suitable for one or multiple people to change. If you're with a group of friends, you can change together or use a compartment individually. Use any available public locker, lock it after storing your belongings, and open it with your wristband. 5️⃣ Other Tips: It's best to bring your own towels, slippers, and swim caps. If you forget, you can purchase them before entering. There are also private shower and changing rooms available for an additional fee on top of the basic ticket price. 6️⃣ Inside the Bath: In the open-air section, there's a heated swimming pool of about 50 meters in length, with a water temperature of 22 degrees Celsius in the summer. The water is very clean. There are two thermal pools on either side. Inside the surrounding buildings, you'll find various sized thermal pools and saunas. Loungers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are free of charge. 📕 Extra Tip: We happened to stay at a hotel on Váci Street, a famous shopping pedestrian street in Budapest, bustling with people all year round. It starts at Vörösmarty Square and ends at the Central Market, making it a perfect spot for a city walk. The starting station of the M1 subway line is also at Vörösmarty Square. From here, it's a 9-stop ride to the Széchenyi Bath, with a one-way ticket costing 450 Ft (the M1 line is the world's second oldest subway line, with a total of ten stops). After visiting the bath, it's just a 3-minute walk to Budapest's Heroes' Square. Recommendation: There's a Half Price designer discount store at Vörösmarty Square, where you can find discounted sports and trendy brands. If you forgot to bring your swimsuits, you can pick some up here. #TravelRecommendation #BudapestTravel #SzéchenyiThermalBath
