🇭🇺 Local Favorites in Budapest: Must-Try Eats on Your Second Visit!

Looking for more than just Menza and Comme Chez Soi? These spots are favorites among locals and are sure to satisfy your cravings! Red Pepper 🔥 📍 Harmincad u. 4, 1051 A century-old establishment frequented by locals. The cave-like ambiance is perfect for photos, and you can enjoy traditional Hungarian dishes here. Goulash Hungarian Beef Bowl 🍲: The bread is baked in a traditional oven, crispy and perfect with their secret chili sauce! Hungarian Dumplings 🥟: A local traditional dessert made with cottage cheese, low in fat and high in protein. Paired with jam, it's not greasy and as light as a cloud. Give it a try! Vakvarju Restaurant 🏰 📍 Paulay Ede u. 7, 1061 Beautifully decorated, it feels like a scene from The Grand Budapest Hotel. Reservations are recommended, and the staff speaks excellent English. Duck Liver Mousse 🍖: Smooth and not fishy at all, served with crispy bread and apricot jam. Delicious! Confit Beef Chuck 🍖: Generously portioned, served on a bed of pumpkin puree with Eastern European pancakes and a layer of light sour cream. This place also offers a variety of homemade local beers, definitely worth a taste! VAJ Sad · Bakery Brunch Cafe 🍞 📍 József krt. 30-32, 1085 While many visit the New York Café for its beauty, the coffee is average. For a great brunch, don't miss this spot! It combines Hungarian specialties well and offers unique croissants and bagels (like cottage cheese croissants) that you won't find elsewhere, right in the heart of Pest. Szimpla Kert Ruin Bar 🏚️ 📍 Kazinczy u. 14, 1075 No visit to Budapest is complete without experiencing the famous Ruin Bars. Built on the ruins after WWII, this one is the most famous, housing about a dozen bars and many art installations. You can visit for free or enjoy a drink. Chimney Cake Shop 🍪 Chimney cakes are everywhere, but my favorite is with Nutella chocolate sauce and ice cream. Yum! Gelarto rosa Rose Ice Cream 🍦 📍 Hercegprímás u. 9, 1051 With many flavors and beautiful designs, this place also offers rose as souvenirs. The small size is very cute! #BudapestTravel #BudapestFood #BudapestEats #HungaryTravel #BudapestMustVisits #EuropeanTravel
