🇮🇹 My One-Day Venice Travel Guide
1️⃣ It’s seriously crowded! If you want to enjoy Venice peacefully, I recommend staying on the main island to experience the quiet mornings and evenings. We were just complaining about China’s May Day crowds, and the next day we ran into massive tourist groups in Venice – people everywhere!! 😵💫 2️⃣ Venice’s main island isn’t big – one day is totally enough. We left Mestre Station at 8:30 AM and returned at 7:30 PM. We even killed 3-4 hours at two different spots drinking and hiding from the heat. Time was still plenty – mostly because we skipped lining up for churches and bell towers. The sun was brutal! ☀️ Tip: When buying tickets at Mestre Station, you don’t need to check the schedule – just make sure the destination is correct. Ask staff for the platform. We went to platform 5 confused with no train, but everyone was actually waiting at platform 11. 😅 3️⃣ On sunny days, from 1-4 PM, I suggest finding a restaurant or bar with a view to enjoy Aperol Spritz 🍹 or hide indoors. The light is too harsh for photos, and your skin will burn. I never use umbrellas while traveling, but here I deeply regretted having no sun protection! 😫 4️⃣ Photo tips: Venice has countless bridges – no need to hunt for specific ones. Just wander and shoot when you see a nice one with fewer people. But do prioritize Accademia Bridge and Ponte della Paglia. Rialto Bridge is packed – hard to get a good shot except one small corner (which had bad light in the morning). At Florian, ask a friend to shoot from outside the window – super photogenic! 📸✨ 5️⃣ Food: Gelateria Gallonetto – Amazing gelato! Pistachio costs an extra €0.5 but worth it. Passion fruit is refreshing and delicious – new favorite flavor discovered! 🍦 Caffè Florian – “World’s oldest café” located at St. Mark’s Square. You can’t miss it. I thought €10-20 for coffee was expensive, but actually all places around the square charge similar prices. Great spot to hide from the sun at noon. ☕😌 6️⃣ Disappointments: Libreria Acqua Alta (Sunken Bookstore) – Not worth it. Called “the most beautiful bookstore,” but the view is just okay. Staff kept rushing everyone with “go go go!” I get that tourists taking photos can be annoying, but they could just prohibit photos. We barely saw anything before being pushed to the exit. 😒 Many riverside restaurants require you to order a full meal, not just drinks. Ask before sitting down. We awkwardly waited for a table, sat down wanting just drinks, and got rejected. 🫤 #Venice #VisitVenice #Italy #ItalyTravel #MayDayTrip #StudyInFrance #TravelTheWorld
