🇰🇪 Must-Try Affordable Western Restaurants in Nairobi

Having lived in Nairobi for almost 3 months, I’ve explored many restaurants. Since most Kenya trips include a day in Nairobi, here are some delicious and unique budget-friendly Western spots! (Next up: pricier Western/Chinese/Korean restaurants.) 1️⃣ Hooyos Kitchen & Poetry A cozy spot specializing in lamb. Must-order: Mbuzi Choma (leg/arm) 🐑 – A huge portion of tender, grilled lamb (no gaminess, likely lamb meat) for just ~100 KES. You won’t finish it! Whole Tilapia (Coconut Fish 🥥) – Super fragrant; opt for wet fried for extra juiciness. 💦🐟 Their drinks are great, service is warm, and the backyard has a lovely vibe. Check Google Maps for the full menu. 2️⃣ RocoMamas Kenya (Sarit Centre) Located on the top floor of Sarit Centre, a famous Nairobi mall. Enjoy meals under the open sky! Recommended: Beef/Pork Ribs – ~85 KES for a massive 500g portion, sweet-and-sour glazed, super tasty. Also serves standard burgers 🍔 and fries . 3️⃣ CJ's - Kilimani A chain serving classic "white people food" (think wings 🐓, sandwiches 🥪, fries), but their Signature Mojitos 🍹 are the real star! Try: Strawberry (sweet-tart) & Kiwi (refreshing), both lightly fizzy 🫧—perfect with heavy Western dishes. 4️⃣ Ankole Grill (Kilimani) A vibe at night, with candlelit tables 🕯️ and mostly local patrons. Must-order: Pork Ribs – Sweet-sour glaze, incredibly flavorful. Pork is rare in Nairobi (due to Muslim dietary norms; even supermarkets seldom sell it). Their Piña Colada 🥥🍍 is fantastic—Kenyan pineapples are unbelievably sweet (like premium pineapples, no tongue-numbing acidity). #Kenya #Nairobi #RestaurantRecommendations #WesternFood #Safari
