Hooyos Kitchen & Poetry — Restaurant in Nairobi

Went because of the high reviews and photo of the spicy chicken burger. When you arrive to the parking lot, there are several structures with no signage which is the restaurant. Hopefully they erect directional signage soon.

There are handwashing stations throughout the property and charging ports beneath the booth seats.

Service was excellent - the ladies were friendly, prompt, and attentive.

The ambiance was ok. A couple of gentlemen with loud voices had phone conversations (one on speaker) at their table and the sound carries, so it dampened the experience. No fault to the restaurant.

Food - Something in my spirit told me to confirm whether the spicy chicken burger looks like the menu photo. Unfortunately, the photo is embellished. Apparently, their spicy chicken sandwich comes with 1 filet (not 2 like in the photo), but Sheila went above and beyond back and forth to the kitchen to provide accurate information. I asked the price to make me a sandwich exactly like the photo, and she said the kitchen agreed to make it for me like the photo at no extra charge.

Hooray! 🎉

Except.... instead of cooking 2 chicken filets, they split 1 chicken filet into 2 slivers! 😆. See the photo!Thanks to this ingenuity, I ate a batter sandwich with no pickles. I hope they correct the menu photo or kitchen preparation.

Also, both the burger and fries were just warm when they arrived to my table. Not sure if delay was when the kitchen rang the bell or when the servers picked up the food, but hopefully they can be more attentive to bring out food as soon as it's prepared, so it's hot when it reaches customers at the table.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hooyos Kitchen, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish.
