🇰🇭 Hidden Gem in Long Beach: A Taste of Cambodia at Sophy’s
This weekend I ventured into Cambodia Town in Long Beach — one of the largest Cambodian communities in the U.S. Walking along Anaheim Street, you’re surrounded by Southeast Asian energy: restaurants, temples, markets… the vibe is unmistakable. 🌿 We chose the famous Sophy’s Restaurant — the moment you step in, you’re greeted by the rich aroma of spices and herbs. Here’s what we tried 🍛✨: • Lok Lak – Signature black pepper beef with tangy sauce. Tender, flavorful, and perfect over rice! • Red Curry – A beautiful blend of coconut milk and spices. Creamy with a gentle kick 🌶️🥥 • Beef Jerky – Sweet, salty, and totally addictive. The chew is so satisfying! But this meal was more than just food — it was a cultural experience. Many of Long Beach’s Cambodian residents arrived as refugees fleeing the conflicts of the 1970s. They brought their culinary traditions with them, put down roots, and built what is now a thriving Cambodia Town. Every bite at Sophy’s tells a story of resilience, memory, and home. 🍚❤️ 📍 Sophy’s Restaurant 📍 3240 E Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90804 #HiddenGems #CambodianFood #LongBeachEats #AuthenticFlavors #FoodWithAStory #CulturalBites #ExploreLB
