After four years, Iβm back on a Carnival cruise β this time aboard the Carnival Radiance for a 4-day, 3-night trip from Long Beach to Ensenada, Mexico! π Perfect for working folks β board on Friday, return Monday morning. A sweet little getaway! π Hereβs whatβs new and what to know compared to my last trip: π 1. Booking & Prep Booked on the Carnival website β chose a window room. Since we booked just a month ahead, it came to $500 per person including taxes. Before sailing: β Online check-in β Print & attach luggage tags β Download the Carnival Hub app β check menus, activities, onboard info! π 2. Boarding in Long Beach π Port of Long Beach β boarding closes by 3 PM. π ΏοΈ Parked, then dropped bags with porters in yellow vests (have tip ready β $1-2 per bag). No dragging suitcases around all day β they deliver them to your room! 𧳠π 3. Easy Check-In Process Smooth immigration β just follow the crowd to a zone with round tables. An officer checks your passport, takes a quick phone photo πΈ, and youβre done! π 4. On the Ship Head straight to the Lido Deck (9th floor) buffet π½οΈ after boarding. Rooms ready by ~2 PM β no more long check-in lines! Your luggage will be waiting outside your door with an envelope containing your room keys ποΈ. π 5. Extra Costs πΆ Wi-Fi isnβt free β purchase a plan if needed. π· Drinks are also extra. π 6. Port Stop: Ensenada, Mexico Quieter than 4 years ago β fewer tourists. Local women offer braiding β originally $25, but you can bargain down to $15 πβοΈ. π΅ Bring cash β many restaurants and bars in town donβt take card. π 7. Pro Tip β¨οΈ Bring a thermos if you like hot water β available at the buffet. π Final Thoughts: Had a great time, but noticed the impact of the economy. Shows are smaller β 6 singers/dancers instead of full productions. Ensenada felt quieter too.
