đ°đżMy All-Time Favorite Foods After a Year in KazakhstanâLove Them to
1.: Russian bliny (pancakes) with tvorog (cottage cheese). Sometimes I drizzle honey on them, or wrap them around fried minced meat. They have a subtle sweetness and never feel dryâso moreish đ„. 2.: Syrnik, another Russian treat, I think. *Must* be eaten warmâsoft, and incredibly tasty. All the foreigners around me are obsessed too đ§. 3.: Kazakhstanâs cafĂ© scene is fierceâso much competition means top quality at prices lower than back home. And they havenât raised prices even as everything else gets more expensive. Winning! â. 4.: Almaty apples. Tangy, sweet, juicy, and never toughâbest apples Iâve ever had! But skip if you have acid reflux đ. 5.: Tomatoes here are packed with vitamin C, so I eat them nonstop. A sprinkle of salt or drizzle of olive oil turns them into a perfect salad đ . 6.: Probably a Western breakfastâgarlicky sauce on thick bread with crispy edges. Simple but delicious, with a satisfying crunch đ„Ș. 7.: From the restaurant â7 Camcaâ (7 Bowls). Seven flavorsâspicy, chicken, lamb⊠Perfect for cold days, warming you right up đČ. 8.: Georgian grilled chicken. I order it every time. Even people who hate chicken skin love thisâthey somehow crisp it to paper-thin perfection, so itâs never greasy đ. 9.: *HIGHLY* recommend for group meals. Itâs called âKhan Palauâ (Khanâs pilaf), loaded with horse meat, beef, and shawarma. Meat lovers, prepare to be thrilled. Pair with pickled veggies to cut the richness đ. 10.Seeing travelers unsure what to eat, I wanted to share these from my (photo album). Hope they help!
