🇲🇽 LA Holbox — Affordable Michelin-Starred Mexican Fusion

Disclaimer: Just my personal take ✍️ TL;DR: A bit disappointed — wouldn’t go out of my way, but fine if you’re nearby. I first heard of Holbox 6 years ago from Worth It’s fish taco episode. Back then I lived in LA but never made it. Recently it earned a Michelin star and ranked #42 on North America’s Best Restaurants list, so I finally added it to my must-try list. Got there at 11:30 AM on Saturday — waited 35 min to order and 50 min to eat. Line moved steadily though. (Weekdays have a set menu — books fast at the start of each month.) 🦪 Kanpachi Tostada The uni got lost in the salsa — fresh on its own, but overwhelmed when combined. 🌟 Erizo (Uni + Scallop) The star of the meal! Lightly seasoned, letting the sweetness of the sea shine through. 🍋 Scallop Aguachile Bright, lime-forward ceviche-style dish — refreshing if you like acid, but skip if you don’t enjoy tangy flavors. 🐙 Octopus Taco (Taco de Pulpo en su Tinta) Tasty — reminded me of seafood paella in taco form. At $7 each, not bad. Final ranking: Erizo > Octopus Taco >> Scallop = Tostada Not every dish wowed, and if you’re sensitive to sour flavors, some could be misses. Total: ~$120 for two before tip. Located in a food court — zero ambiance, long wait. For me, it didn’t quite live up to the hype 🌮💫 #HolboxLA #MichelinMexican #MexicanFusion #LATacos #UniLover #FoodCourtFineDining #MichelinStar #LAEats #HonestReview #TryItOnce #SeaToTaco #NotWorthTheHype #FoodieExperience
