🇵🇪 Peruvian Restaurant in Ann Arbor Finally found a good restaurant

Culantro Ann Arbor – Delicious Peruvian Food That’s Perfect for Chinese Tastes (Great Value Too!) I tried three dishes here—an appetizer and two mains—and all were tasty! It’s easily one of the better spots in Ann Arbor, and Peruvian cuisine here fits Chinese palates surprisingly well. Totally recommend it if you’re craving something flavorful but not too exotic 🌟! 🦞 Appetizer: Ceviche (Peruvian Raw Fish) It’s not the best ceviche I’ve ever had, but it’s solid. The raw fish is fresh (no fishy aftertaste!) and tossed in a bright, zesty sauce. The onions add a nice crunch and mild sharpness, balancing the fish’s richness. It’s a light, refreshing start to the meal—great for whetting your appetite. 🍛 Mains: Both Winners (Chinese Stomach-Approved!) The two main dishes were the stars—familiar enough to feel comforting, but with fun Peruvian twists: Lomo Saltado: A must-order! This classic Peruvian dish has stir-fried beef, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, and french fries—and it tastes like a delicious cousin of Chinese “black pepper beef”! The beef is tender, the veggies are crisp, and the sauce is savory (just a little salty, but pairing it with white rice fixes that perfectly). Hearty, flavorful, and so satisfying. Arroz Con Mariscos (Peruvian Seafood Rice): I think this is better value than Spanish paella! It’s not served in a fancy big pan, but it’s packed with seafood (shrimp, clams, etc.) and has a rich, savory rice base. The seafood is fresh, and the rice soaks up all the briny, herby flavor—no dry or undercooked bits here. 🥤 Drink: Jugo de Maracuya (Passion Fruit Juice) So good! It’s sweet-tart, with that bright passion fruit flavor—reminds me of the limited-edition HeyTea x Fendi passion fruit drink. Refreshing, not too sweet, and pairs perfectly with the savory mains. 💰 Price: ~$30 Per Person (Can Be Cheaper!) Super reasonable—mains are mostly $10–$20, so you can easily eat for less if you skip the appetizer or share dishes. For the portion size and quality, it’s a total steal for Ann Arbor. 📍 Location: Easy to Reach from Central Campus 223 N Main St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104—it’s a 10-minute walk from Central Campus, and there are bus stops right outside. No car? No problem! 🌟 Final Verdict: 10/10 for Peruvian Comfort Food Culantro is a hidden gem—Peruvian food that feels familiar to Chinese tastes, great flavors, and fair prices. Whether you’re a student or a local, it’s worth the walk from campus. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes (and get another passion fruit juice)! #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #MichiganFoodie #AnnArborFoodie #PeruvianFood #AnnArborRestaurants #AffordableEats #MichiganFood
