🇷🇴 2-Day Bucharest Travel Guide

🌲 Sights & Exploring the City 💚 The Romanian Athenaeum – Highly recommended! The interior is absolutely stunning—so beautiful you won’t want to leave. Totally worth the 15 lei ticket. 🥹 💚 Central University Library – Right next to the Athenaeum. We were told we needed a reservation (by phone or email), so we called on the spot, and the staff arranged for a guide (a lovely, elegant lady, possibly a university employee) to show us around all the beautiful rooms. Price: 25 lei per person. 💚 National Museum of Art – Student ticket: 8 lei (bring your student ID), regular price: 32 lei. Features both Romanian and European art collections. The building and staircase are gorgeous (see pic 4)! The artworks are interesting, though not as grand as the Louvre or Uffizi, and there’s not much detailed info, so you can move through it quickly. 💚 Carturesti Carusel Bookstore – A must-visit (pic 6), as recommended by everyone on Xiaohongshu. Beautifully designed with lots of English books and文创 (cultural/creative products), though prices are a bit high. 💚 Old Town (Centru Vechi) – Stayed nearby, so it was easy to explore. The passages are great for photos, and the area has some decaying, graffiti-covered pale-yellow buildings with a poetically rundown vibe (kinda like Athens? 😂). Perfect for fans of aesthetic decay. 😅 ☕️ Food & Drinks 🥨 Caru’ cu Bere – A famous restaurant/bar (pics 2-3) near the Old Town, super photogenic! Didn’t eat there but enjoyed the ambiance with a juice. 😂 🥨 Tom Yum – A popular Thai restaurant (both on Xiaohongshu and Google Maps). The food was authentic and delicious, though slightly pricey for local standards. 🥨 Mega Image – A common supermarket chain. Must-try: their 1€ roasted chicken legs (and pretzels!)—so good. 😇 🚗 Transportation 🚌 Bus – From the airport to Old Town (~40 min, only 3 lei!). You can pay by card. 🚖 Taxi – Use Bolt (way cheaper than Western Europe 😅). 💰 Currency Exchange Only the Athenaeum required cash (for tickets). Everywhere else took cards. Found a decent exchange spot nearby, but later saw a 0% commission one near La Paninoteca (almost Google rates!). #Romania #RomaniaTravel #RomaniaGuide #Bucharest #BucharestTravel Let me know if you'd like any adjustments! 😊
