🇸🇰 Slovakia’s High Tatras: Where Alpine Lakes Steal the Show! ⛰️💙
Coming from Poland’s famous Zakopane (home of the "Eye of the Sea"), we crossed the border by bus to Vysoké Tatry—then hopped on a scenic train (€4, 40min) to Štrbské Pleso (pleso = lake!). But our hotel sat 5km away near Popradské Pleso, so we hiked there—because why not? 🏔️ Mountain Magic Tatra Mountains stretch across Poland & Slovakia, with Rysy Peak as the crown jewel. Plan foiled? Rysy was still snow-capped in June! ❄️ (No winter gear = no summit). Plan B: A spontaneous 3pm climb up Sedlo pod Ostrvou (500m ascent). Zigzag boulder paths → slippery when rain hit ☔, but epic lake views between clouds! 🌊 Why We Fell in Love Alpine lakes everywhere—nestled in valleys, perched on summits. Like Slovenia, but wilder! 4-hour hike = max reward (back by 7pm for hotel relaxation 🍵). #HighTatras #SlovakiaHikes #AlpineLakes #FailedSummit #AdjustedPlans #EasternEuropeTravel
