🇺🇸 30/100: 100 Restaurants in Boston with My Boyfriend 💑

We returned to Sumiao Hunan Kitchen after three years – and wow, has it changed! 🦧✨ Gone is the upscale Chinese dining vibe… now it’s fully tailored to the American market (90% of the diners were non-Asian), complete with a vegan menu. While the authenticity has shifted, some dishes still deliver that bold Hunan flavor we crave. Here’s what we thought: Lei Jia Hu Pi Dan (Pounded Chili & Eggplant) 🫑🥚 – SPICY, aromatic, and full of texture. A must-order! Pickled Long Beans with Chicken Gizzard 🐔 – Tangy, crunchy, and packed with wok hei. One of their best! Stir-Fried Pork Trotters 🐖 – Rich, collagen-packed, and savory. Perfect with rice. Tofu Pot 🫖 – Sadly, tasted straight out of a package… the low point of the meal 😵 Overall, the food is still decent by Boston Chinese standards – just don’t come expecting full authenticity. It’s a great intro to Hunan cuisine for curious eaters, and the Kendall Square location is convenient and stylish. 📍260 Third St, Cambridge (in the heart of Kendall Square) 30 down… 70 more food adventures to go! Even with some hits and misses, I’m glad we’re still exploring together 😊💖 #BostonEats #HunanCuisine #SumiaoBoston #ChineseFood #SpicyLovers #CambridgeEats #FoodieBoston
