🇺🇸 A Beijinger’s Joy in Boston: Meat Buns, Jianbing & Tofu Pudding!
【Beijing Taste】 It’s been a while since my last visit, but today I finally tried the highly recommended meat buns — and they did NOT disappoint! 👍🏻 So fragrant, so satisfying — tastes just like the classic braised pork buns from breakfast stalls near Beijing subway stations 🥹 The slightly sticky, semi-leavened dough brought back memories… though I wish there was a bit more filling! Also gave their jianbing a try — and it was pretty solid! 🫔 Reminded me of the ones sold outside my high school. Not Tianjin-style — this is proper Beijing jianbing, ya know? 🧐 The sauce had a hint of sweet bean paste, and the crispy cracker inside was thicker, almost like sanzi (fried dough twists), and stayed crunchy even when cool. The tofu pudding seemed to have new packaging. The broth felt a bit thinner than before, but the flavor was still that classic breakfast stall taste. Personally, I prefer it a bit richer. As usual, I ordered enough for dinner AND the next morning’s buns 👌🏻 Their old Beijing yogurt and strawberry tanghulu (candied fruit) are longtime favorites of mine — had to stock up on a few! Overall — highly recommended! #BostonEats #LocalDelights #Jianbing #Baos #TofuPudding #ComfortFood 🥟🍲🌯🧡
