🇺🇸 A Boutique Hotel Recommendation You’ll Love!

The Palisociety group in the U.S. runs a series of charming boutique hotels, mostly located across California. Many are renovated historic properties that retain their original character—so each one has its own unique style! They’re generally four-star level—perfect if you appreciate design and personality, but maybe not if you’re strictly seeking a luxury five-star experience. I recently stayed at Palihouse Santa Monica for five nights, and overall, it was such a lovely experience—great for solo travelers or couples (they only offer king beds). The location is super close to the beach—just a 5-minute walk to Ocean Avenue 🏖️. During my stay, there weren’t many unhoused individuals around, so I felt pretty safe. It’s also near areas like Palisades Village—convenient and peaceful. The hotel’s style is truly special—inspired by Moorish and Mediterranean Revival architecture—very photogenic! The lobby has a cozy fireplace, and they serve simple brunch daily (open to the public too). There are beautiful gardens at the front and back, and they even lend out retro bicycles for guests to explore the neighborhood! 🚲💨 I stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a king bed—about 60 square meters, including a bedroom, living area, bathroom, dressing room, and a fully-equipped little kitchen. You can check the floor plan on their website for details. That adorable retro kitchen was actually why I chose this hotel—since I was staying five days, I wanted to cook simple meals myself. The kitchenette is playful but functional, with basic cookware included (just bring your own salt and pepper!). Toiletries are by diptyque, and the towels and bedding are high-quality. Housekeeping was thorough and consistent. That said, there are clear drawbacks due to its age: The building dates back to 1927, and they kept the original windows—charmingly vintage, but also a bit drafty and less insulated. Even as someone sensitive to sound and temperature, I still found it comfortable overall. I’d definitely recommend it for a stylish, relaxed stay!
