🇺🇸 A day trip to Richmond, VA

During my visit to Washington, D.C., I took a day to explore Richmond. A one-day trip felt a bit too short—I’d recommend staying overnight if you have the time to explore more!😂 🏛️ My top recommendation is the free Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Its Art Nouveau and Art Deco collections are truly unique and among the few of their kind in the U.S. There’s also an exquisite exhibition of French and Russian jewelry designs—absolutely stunning and ornate! The museum is quite large; you could easily spend 4-5 hours there if you take your time.😍 🏛️ Next door, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture has a special exhibition on the famous American chef Julia Child. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to see it this time. Nearby, you’ll also find Carytown, a lively commercial street known for its charm. I only passed by on the bus, but the houses in the area looked beautiful!👌 🚶 The River Walk was fairly ordinary—not much in terms of businesses, but it’s a nice place for a stroll. If you’re interested in Civil War history, you might enjoy the museum along the river. 🏛️ To the east, there’s the former home and memorial of the famous American poet and writer Edgar Allan Poe. It’s not very large, but worth a quick visit. 🍗 For food, I highly recommend the fried chicken at Mama J’s Kitchen. Super crispy, juicy, and flavorful—though the portions are a bit small, so order extra! Their lemonade is also delicious—don’t miss it! #Richmond #Virginia #DayTrip #WashingtonDC #TravelUSA 🎨🍗🚶‍♂️
