🇺🇸 Alaska｜Juneau: Mendenhall Glacier Park 🌲🏔️

“If you’ve never wandered to the snowy ends of the earth where your beloved once roamed, how could you understand moonlit waters and fleeting blossoms?” 🌙💧 —————————————————— Stepping into Mendenhall Glacier National Park in Juneau—Alaska’s capital—I knew geographically it lay in the heart of the Gastineau Channel, yet I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d arrived at the very edge of the world. 🌎❄️ Maybe it was the mountains, the lakes, the birds in flight, the lush greenery… everything here felt utterly detached from the human world, as if nature itself was quietly breathing at the end of existence. There were, of course, other visitors—quite a few, from all over the world. But what took over me was a sense of solitude and connection with the wild. The voices and footsteps around me slowly faded into a distant hum. 🥾👣 We took the shortest trail to the viewpoints. From the visitor center, we turned left and soon reached a fork in the path. 🪵➡️⬅️ To the right, a peaceful trail led through a murmuring forest alongside a gentle stream, all the way to Nugget Falls 💦—where glacial meltwater thunders down from the heights. As I stepped closer, the mist from the falls brushed against my face. That moment—just me and the waterfall—was my favorite of the whole day. ❤️ Back at the fork, we went left. Here the land opened up into wide marshes with a stunning backdrop: the one and only summer glacier in the park. 🧊⛰️ Looking at this view, I still felt a kind of longing—but I embraced the gift nature offered, knowing I had no right to ask for more. Nightfall came late.
