🇺🇸 Autumn Colors at Silver Lake 🍂

Joined the trend of chasing fall colors along Highway 395! I knew to keep my expectations in check before coming—it’s not like the East Coast with vast, sweeping views. But as camping lovers, we managed to book a spot at Silver Lake Campground, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip! ✨ The campground is located along the June Lake Loop. It offers flush toilets 🚽 and signal reception—plus, you’re surrounded by beautiful mountains and golden-yellow aspen trees! 🏔️🌳 If you can snag a lakeside site, it’s even more magical. Imagine being wrapped in aspens, spotting deer 🦌, and waking up to serene lake views (I was so jealous when I saw it!). It was our first time car camping—we enjoyed hot pot at the foot of the mountain and stargazed from our car at night. So cozy and peaceful! 🍲🌌 Silver Lake is probably the most stunning spot in the entire loop. Even if you’re not camping, I highly recommend stopping by if you’re driving Highway 395. The lakeside is blanketed with golden aspens—it feels like a dream! 💛 I loved it so much I canceled the rest of my fall-color chasing plans (mainly 'cause we’re heading to Autocamp Yosemite next 😆—more on that later!). Other spots we checked out along Highway 395: 📍 Hot Creek Geologic Site - Brees Lookout The road is rough, but the view is worth it! ✨ 📍 Mono Lake We didn’t go down but admired it from afar with a telephoto lens. Many friends recommend visiting at sunset for pink sky reflections! 🌅 📍 Conway Summit Not at peak yet, but turning orange-red. Besides the trees, the mountains are pretty bare and rugged 🏔️😂 (a common “complaint” about 395—some say the bald hills look like Godzilla’s skin 🦖). We didn’t see much red foliage 🍁, and I didn’t cover too many spots 🤨, but lower elevations haven’t peaked yet—so there’s still time! I’d also suggest adding other activities to your trip—just leaf-peeping alone may not be worth the long drive.
