While LA has tons of Sichuan hot pot spots, as a Northerner, Iโve been craving that childhood-style copper pot lamb hot pot โ fresh lamb dipped in sesame sauce and fermented tofu paste, steaming hot and oh-so-fragrant! A friend recommended East Town Hot Pot in Rowland Heights โ one of the few spots in LA with real charcoal-fired copper pots. They even offer free fresh lamb soup from 10 AMโ3 PM with a party of three โ no tips required! ๐ The moment I saw their soup bases, I knew we were in the right place: Lamb Offal Pot, Lamb Spine Pot, Pickled Cabbage Pot, Pork Stomach & Chicken Pot, plus spicy and bone broth options. We chose half lamb spine + half lamb offal. ๐ The lamb spine was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the offal pot had tripe, intestines, liver โ you can also add extra offal. Topped with cilantro and pepper โ so savory and comforting!๐๐ Almost every table orders their Beef & Lamb Platter โ includes beef tongue, lamb shoulder, snowflake beef, Angus beef, and fatty beef. Over 30 pieces for just $30+ โ we couldnโt even finish it! I loved the snowflake beef and lamb shoulder best โ dipped in their secret sesame sauce (reportedly a family recipe!). They also have a wide variety of hot pot ingredients โ order based on your taste.
