Maryland is such a comfortable state — not too hot, not too cold, with gentle hills, beautiful sea views, and great infrastructure 🏞️☀️. It’s largely middle-class, relaxed, and livable. Baltimore, the capital, is an old city with grand, character-filled architecture — far more charming than Houston or Atlanta! 🏙️❤️ But because the buildings are so massive and the streets relatively quiet (with fewer shops and people), it can feel a bit like a “ghost town” 👻… Safety is a real concern here. Compared to other cities, you’ll see more unhoused people and occasional groups of young men lingering around. Stay alert ⚠️— especially after dark. We didn’t go out at night. But there’s plenty to enjoy too! 🦀 Inner Harbor offers great food — especially seafood — plus a submarine, historic warships ⚓, and a fantastic aquarium 🐠. 🎓 Johns Hopkins University is not only beautiful but world-famous for biomedicine 🧬🔬.
