🇺🇸 Detroit | Techno's Holy Land, A Dreamer's City

For August long weekend, I skipped Veld and drove straight to the birthplace of techno—Detroit. Beyond its "Motor City" rep, this place breathes raw industrial soul. Crumbling Harkonnen-esque architecture meets Midwest warmth, proving old money never really dies. Detroit may not be my dream city, but it’s the city in my dreams. 🌟 Must-Do Techno Pilgrimage 1️⃣ GM Renaissance Center 🏢 Backrooms IRL: Empty conference floors, ghostly escalators—liminal space heaven. Spent 2/3 of my trip here (rumored to close soon—RIP). 2️⃣ People Mover 🚆 Free downtown loop train = GTA vibes on rails. 3️⃣ Hart Plaza + Guardian Building ✊🎨 Hart Plaza hosts Movement Festival (techno mecca!). Guardian Building’s murals = art deco glory. 4️⃣ Ford Factory (⚠️ Closed Sundays!) 🏭 Techno’s sacred ground. Next time... 5️⃣ Detroit Institute of Arts 🖼️ Architecture porn + iconic sculptures. (Also missed—next time!) 🛏️ Sleep & 🍝 Eat Trumbull & Porter Hotel: Affordable old-money aesthetic + "free" bikes (but... maybe don’t). 📸 Mama’s Spaghetti 🍝: Eminem’s $10 spaghetti spot—order in an alley, eat next door. Plot Twist: My "techno roots" quest flopped—no parties that weekend, and Ford Factory was closed. But Detroit’s gritty magic got me. Next Time: Movement Festival ✅ Ford Factory ✅ DIA ✅ East has Montreal, but the West has #DetroitLove. 🖤 #TechnoTravel #AbandonedChic #MotorCityMagic #FailButLoveIt 🚗🔊
