When I told friends I was visiting Detroit, the reactions were all the same: "Be careful!", "Don't go out at night!", "Stick to downtown!". But after spending 3 days here, I'm happy to report - Detroit is not the warzone people make it out to be! 🌇 Busting the Safety Myths 1️⃣ "It's all abandoned buildings" While you'll see some urban decay (hello, artistic photo ops!), downtown is clean and modern with new developments everywhere. 2️⃣ "Only dangerous neighborhoods" Yes, avoid sketchy areas (like any big city), but the tourist spots feel as safe as Chicago or Philly. 3️⃣ "Everyone's packing heat" Saw more yuppies with lattes than gangsters. Honestly, the vibe reminded me of... Cleveland? 🚗 Ford Museum: Worth the Hype The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation was my highlight: Saw the actual Rosa Parks bus Sat in a Model T (they let you touch everything!) The steam engine collection blew my mind Pro tip: Get there early - it's massive and you'll want 4+ hours.
