🇺🇸 Florida Trip 4: Weeki Wachee Springs
Weeki Wachee means "small winding river" in the Native American language 🍃. Known as the "Little Jiuzhaigou" of Florida, it truly lives up to its reputation—a must-visit spot near Tampa! The water is incredibly clear, with seagrass swaying beneath the surface 🌊. White sandbars shine through the light blue-green tint, creating a glass-like paradise that feels almost spiritual. And yes—there are manatees! 🐄💦 The spring water stays a constant 74°F (23°C), and manatees love gathering here in winter near freshwater estuaries. We saw three gentle giants during our New Year’s kayak trip! 🎉 🚤 Boat Rental Tips: Limited daily availability—book ahead! We booked 2 days prior—only single sit-on kayaks and stand-up paddleboards were left. $35 for 2 hours | 2.8-mile route | Ages 12+ can ride alone. 📍 Location: Weeki Wachee Springs State Park 6131 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL 34606 🚗 Kayakers park directly at the rental dock—no need to enter the main park gate. 🦺 Life jackets are required for everyone. ⚠️ Important Notes: No plastic bags or disposable items (paper, wrappers, bottles)—bags will be checked.
