🇺🇸 JHU & Baltimore: Food & Stay Guide 🏨🍜🦀

If you’re coming to JHU for AP training, summer school, work, or travel — save this guide! 📌 This summer, I attended the College Board’s AP Chinese Teacher Institute at Johns Hopkins University. It was the best decision I made all summer! Not only was the training excellent (more on that later 😉), but Baltimore itself completely surprised me — in the best ways. Yes, that Baltimore, often misunderstood and underestimated. Prejudice really is a mountain to climb. 🏔️ 🏨 Where to Stay: The Study Hotel – just a 5-minute walk from campus! 🛏️ New, clean rooms + super friendly staff 💵 Under $200/night (even better with JHU event rates!) ☕ Free coffee, tea, milk, and oat milk in the lobby until 10 AM 🍽️ Dear Charles restaurant on-site – great brunch! 🍴 Where to Eat: ✅ Kajiken (2-min walk from JHU/The Study) Michelin Guide-listed 🍜 – famous for broth-less ramen Must-try: Roasted Beef Ramen (topped with a raw – ask to skip if you prefer) 😭 Sadly, no location in LA… ✅ Sichuan House (right next to Kajiken) New branch of a beloved local Chinese restaurant Authentic flavors + super convenient ✅ Thames Street Oyster House (Inner Harbor) 🦪 Seafood lover’s paradise! Make a reservation or sit at the bar. Famous for oysters (order individually!), lobster rolls, mussels, and scallops ✅ Nick’s Fish House 🦀 A must-visit during blue crab season (July–September)! Crabs are steamed with Old Bay seasoning – shake it off if it’s too strong Fun, messy, and delicious – crabs are dumped right on the table! Waterfront views + solid security ✅ ✅ Kong Pocha (Korean) 👍 Great food – I loved the tofu and beef hot pot 👎 Area is less safe + casual vibe (“fly restaurant” style) #JHU #JohnsHopkins #Baltimore #USALife #ChineseEducation #FoodGuide #TravelTips #SeafoodLover #TeacherLife 🌍📚🍽️
