🇺🇸 KANSAS | Day 2 of My 2-Day Trip 🌟
📍 Stop 1: 【Central Library】 ⏰ 10 mins Just a 5-minute walk from our hotel. Didn’t go inside, but the exterior is a giant bookshelf – including a copy of the Tao Te Ching! 📚✨ 📍 Stop 2: 【UMKC】 ⏰ 30 mins – 1 hour Came for the famous Shatto Milk 🥛 – only sold in Kansas! Instead of Hen House Market, I went to the Whole Foods opposite UMKC. They had all the flavors! Chugged one in the store and returned the bottle (they charge a $2.50 deposit). ⚠️ Don’t copy me – it can upset your stomach 😅 Better to pour it into your own bottle and enjoy slowly! Then wandered around UMKC – very quiet campus, not much to see. 📍 Stop 3: 【Toy and Miniature Museum】 ⏰ 2 hours Just a 10-minute walk from UMKC. Student ticket: $5 🎟️ This is hands-down my FAVORITE museum ever! 🏛️❤️ The first floor is full of tiny worlds – like stepping into The Secret World of Arrietty 🧚♀️. Miniature dollhouses, dressing tables, glass crafts, fruits, animals, oil paintings – all nail-sized and incredibly detailed! Wanted to take everything home 😍 The second floor has vintage toys: 1986 McDonald’s Happy Meal toys, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Mickey’s ancestor!), 100+ year-old Teddy bears, a 1942 doctor role-play set… 🧸🪀 📍 Stop 4: 【WWI Memorial】 ⏰ 30 mins – 1 hour Not super interested in war history, so just took a few photos outside 📸 📍 Stop 5: 【Jack Stack BBQ】 Our train back to St. Louis was at 4 PM, so we got takeout. A Jack Stack is just a 10-minute walk from the station. Ordered lamb ribs + beef burnt ends + creamy coleslaw 🍖 – total $32 after tax. Eating it on the train now – even cold, it’s delicious! The lamb ribs are especially amazing. Would be even better hot 🔥 IMO Jack Stack > Q39 😋 📝 Had a fantastic time in Kansas! In two days, I hit so many spots and two famous BBQ joints – all without rushing. The streets are wide and clean, not too crowded, and the homeless folks mostly keep to themselves. Bonus: The streetcar and RideKC buses are FREE! 🚍🎉 They’re fairly clean, but you might encounter… interesting characters (singing, dancing, etc.). I’m pretty bold, but for safety, maybe skip the bus. #Kansas #TravelUSA #DayTrip #ShattoMilk #MiniatureMuseum #JackStackBBQ #WWIMemorial
