🇺🇸 Kansas City|An Atmospheric Old Heartland City 🏭❄️

I revisited Kansas City – the historic Midwestern city straddling two states – for a friend’s wedding. The winter snow added a layer of melancholy to this already lonely, post-industrial city. You can plan a 1 to 2-day trip depending on how deep you want to explore. KC offers free public buses 🚌 – use the Transit app for real-time tracking. You can take Bus 229 from the airport directly downtown. Major attractions are fairly accessible, but note: KC has a relatively high crime rate. Use public transport with caution. If driving 🚗, be aware that Kansas toll roads require you to stop, take a ticket when entering, and stop again to pay when exiting. 🌟 National WWI Museum and Memorial Located near Crown Center, with Union Station behind it. The museum and memorial stand tall in Penn Valley Park. Entering from Union Station requires a detour. 🅿️ Free parking 🎫 $18 entry Allow half a day if visiting inside. You can also just take photos with the memorial 🌟 The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art The city’s second most famous attraction – the “Shuttlecock Museum” 🏸! The front plaza features giant badminton sculptures and the galleries hold many famous works. 🍖 Jack Stack BBQ You can’t visit KC without trying BBQ. This and Q39 are the most famous spots. Personally, I prefer Q39 – Jack Stack’s lamb ribs were too greasy, the brisket was lean, but the burnt ends were decent. 🏨 Hotel Indigo Kansas City – the Crossroads, an IHG Hotel A stylish loft-style hotel with large, beautifully designed rooms. As an IHG Diamond member, I got free breakfast (order anything from the menu, no tip needed). Hotels in KC are generally affordable. The Westin at Crown Center is also a good option. Other places you might consider: 🎆 Arabia Steamboat Museum 🎆 Harry S. Truman National Historic Site (in Independence, MO) 🎆 Kansas State Capitol (in Topeka, ~1 hour from KC) #KansasCity #TravelUSA #Midwest #HistoricSites #BBQ #Museums #WinterTravel #IHGhotels
