King’s Chapel, one of Boston’s oldest and most iconic churches, is no exception! Founded in 1686 as the first Anglican church in New England, it later became a Unitarian chapel after the American Revolution 🔄✨. 🎟️ Bell & Bones Tour 🔔🦴 I joined the guided “Bell and Bones” tour – and it was absolutely worth it! This special tour includes access to areas usually closed to the public: The Bell Tower: Climb up to see the massive Paul Revere-cast bell (the largest he ever made!) and enjoy panoramic views of downtown Boston 🏙️🔭. The Crypt: Descend into the underground burial vaults, where over 1,000 people were interred in the 18th and 19th centuries. A haunting but fascinating experience! ⚰️🕯️ The tour lasts about 1.5 hours and is led by knowledgeable guides who share gripping stories about the church’s history, its famous congregants, and even a few ghost tales 👻📖. 🏛️ Architectural Highlights: The current stone building (built in 1754) is a masterpiece of Georgian architecture 🧱✨. The interior features a stunning colonnade of wooden columns painted to resemble marble 🎨🪑. The box pews (some privately owned by historic families) add to the old-world charm 🪟🧳.
