🇺🇸 Long Beach, LA | Harbor Boat Tour 🛥️

We first explored Shoreline Aquarium Park and discovered this boat tour at the pier. Options included a Harbor Tour for $20 💵 and a Whale Watching Tour for $50/$55 🐋 ($55 on weekends). We chose the Harbor Tour! The boat featured live commentary throughout the journey 🎤. We sailed through the channel between the lighthouse 🗼 and Shoreline Village, got a close-up view of the Queen Mary ocean liner 🚢 and the domed cruise terminal behind it, then passed the container terminal 📦 where two ships were docked—Wan Hai and COSCO container vessels. The Long Beach Port breakwater is the longest human-made dam in the world 🌍, with two exits. As one of the busiest ports in the US 🏗️, many ships anchor outside the harbor—mostly bulk carriers and oil tankers ⚓. We also saw the THUMS Islands 🏝️, three artificial islands used for oil storage by petroleum companies.
