We strolled around Shoreline Aquatic Park first and spotted this boat tour at the pier. There were two options: Harbor Tour: $20 Whale Watching: $50 / $55 (on weekends) We chose the Harbor Tour! π€ The boat had live commentary throughout the trip. We set off through the channel between the lighthouse and Shoreline Village, passing close to the historic Queen Mary ocean liner π’ and the dome-shaped cruise terminal. After that, we saw the container port β two ships were docked: one from Wan Hai and one from COSCO π¦π’. The Long Beach breakwater is the longest human-made breakwater in the world π, with two exits. This is one of the busiest ports in the U.S., so even outside the harbor, many ships were anchored β mostly bulk carriers and oil tankers. We also passed the THUMS Islands ποΈ β artificial islands used for oil storage.
